Screamy Headbanging Music, Boys (again!), and Swimsuits

Ha ha, as promised in my first post, I'm going to write about screamy head-banging music. It really is amazing. If you're into music for melody and harmony and class, ignore the first part of this post. So pretty much I'm a recent convert. Because until about 2 years ago, I wouldn't listen to anything but oldies, and only last year did I start actually being interested in the new music scene. Plus I made friends who listened to cool music. Which is always good. So anyway, I have this friends qui s'appelle Patrick (Packy to his friend-type people). And he's pretty much crazy for the screamy stuff. He's corrupted me, although I'm not quite as hard-core as he is. My latest obsession- Slipknot. They are amazing, and I like them a lot. You should listen to them, because they really aren't dreadfully screamy like your lungs are going to be ripped out and torn to shreads. It's rather not painful at all to listen to this stuff. I enjoy them emmencely. I'm also corupted by Packy, so blame him if you don't like it.

Ok, yes, I really am going to talk about boys again. But that is because I am totally crushing on this boy, and there's a vague possibility that he could maybe like me. Which would be a first. Because boys just don't like me like that. :( So the possibility that he likes me is good. It makes me happy inside, which is nice, as I haven't been properly happy in far too long. Although I was happy Monday. Yes, but anyway, he is very cute, and even though he is a bit arrogant and sometimes a bit mean to some people, I like him a lot. Besides, arrogance is good, and I'm mean all the time. So I forgive him. Anyway, he's sweet underneath it all. So finals get out and mi madre (yeah, I'm tri-lingual. I know about 8 words of spanish, and I mostly speak french)wasn't there yet, so I go hang out on the basketball courts where he's shooting hoops. I'm just watching innocently and talking to someone, can't remember who, and the ball about knocks me out, so I grab it and shoot. Before I know it, we're talking about out lit final and shooting around. I totally wasn't expecting it, but he's passing to me, I'm shooting and passing it back, and it's like we're friends. Amazing... Yep, so then we ganged up on the sevie who came to play with us, and it was all fun. He's amazing, and I'm pretty sure you'll have all figured out who he is by now, and then you'll never let me live it down. But whatever,I like him and I think I actually have a shot. So don't even try.

Swimsuits are wonderful and dreadful things. One-pieces are stupid unless they're racing suits, but you really can't wear those to hang out at the pool or else people thing you eithe have self-confidence issues or are some sort of a basket case. And you're still kind of weird if you wear a two-piece that's not a bikini. But not all of us are built for skimpy suits, and I am one of those people. Please don't try to convince me otherwise, it won't change a thing. Anyway, I found an absolutely adorable bikini at Target. It was lime green with polka-dots, and I liked it a lot. Tragically, it only had tops in small (sorry, NOT gonna fit my....) and no bottoms. It made me sad. So currently I am in desperate need of a suit for WaterWorld on Friday, as mine from last year definaltely falls off, and I have no other suit that fits. It makes me very sad. So if anyone has seen a cute swimsuit that could potentially fit me and has some coverage, please tell me.

Haha, I got my Bolder Boulder time. Even walking a bit (it was too hot, and I couldn't run that day; it was AWEFUL!) I still shaved off about 3 minutes. So I have confidence that I can run it in under an hour if I want, and I bet I can keep up with Saslow next year too. That's my fondest wish. Except maybe keeping up with Tay, but that would be hard.

Ok, nothing more to say. This is a lot more like a mix add/diary entry than the others, but whatever. I was in the mood.

Finals, the Bolder Boulder, and Being Socially Inept among other things

Greetings, readers! Or lack thereof, as it were.

Do you know what today is? That's right, Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a wonderful thing; not only do we honor all our amazing veterans, but it's also the Bolder Boulder here in sunny Colorado. Which is pretty much amazing. I like it a lot. If you don't run, you should. Even if you're lame like me and can't even run a decent 10-minute-mile pace. It's embarassing. But I'm getting better, really I am. And X-C next year will help. I'm gonna pwn next year. Yes pwn is a word. Look it up on Wikipedia. (Thank you Taylor!) So pretty much the BB is amazing. 50,000 people this year. It's so much fun.
I saw a sign that said "Joggers are domesticated runners. Run like an animal!" It made me laugh!

Ok, you all need to band with me and boycott finals. They are stupid, and I don't like them. The way I see it, they're unconstitutional! It's cruel and unusual punishment! Come on, you can't argue with that! There is nothing kind or normal about finals. Therefore, they are cruel and unusual. Hence Unconstitutional. There are too many T's and I's in that word. I don't like it.

An interesting question came up today ont eh way back to the busses. If you're bad at something, you're inept. But what if you're good at something? Does that make you nept or ept? Or does it not have the root form as a word? Cuz I couldn't find either one in a dictionary. Interesting, don't you think? I mean, most other words have the root as a word in and of itself. Like Disorganized and organized. Etc. So that's the deep question of the day.

Alright, I'm going to go work on a slide show, and then eat dinner and study some more. I bid you all adeiu!

My Awesome Play!

Alright, everyone.Tomorrow (Thursday) is our/my school play. It's- Drumroll please...........
The Lion King! Yay! *cue sounds of wild applause, because we're cool like that!* Starring yours truely in the role of Scar, Simba's evil uncle and Mufasa's power-hungry brother.

Yeah, so pretty much it's amazing. Becaus all the big roles have the greatest people ever. Mufasa (whom I get to kill, by the way) is played by a total hottie, and he's amazing. The scenes with young Simba are amazing, and the "remember...." scene with the older Simba is brilliant. Glue! Haha, somehow or another, we have to make him appear ghostly and such, and my brilliant idea was that we coat him in flour. Then a brilliant friend decided that after the play we should dump water on him. Flour + water = GLUE! I guess you had to be there.

Older Simba is played by a very sweet boy, and he can't sing, but he is so tolerant, putting up with the fight scenes with 2 different girls, singing sappy songs, love scenes. It's lovely. The poor kid is too nice to strangle me properly. I told him that if I'm not turning blue, it's all good, but he still refuses. He's a great kid.

Older Nala is one of my best friends, and she sings really well. She's a fantastic actress; it's a pity she's not putting more into this. But she's still good.

Timone and Pumba are really a dynamic duo. They weren't even really friends before this, and now they have all matter of inside jokes and whatnot. It's awesome. THe guy playing Pumba can't sing, but my friend, who plays Timone, sings beautifully, so it's all good.

Both the young Simbas are amazing, they can both sing. One of them really surprised me. I didn't think he could sing. But he can, and it's amazing. Yes yes. I'm excited.

Ok, no more. Gonna go check some more stuff, then go play Twister with the little bro and then do one last line review before bed.

My Friends Are My Life

Hey all! It's me again. Duuuuuuurrrrrr! Anyway. Due to complaints by one of my friends becaus of his lack of mention in previous blog posts, I have decided to devote an enitre blog to my friends. (Sorry, couldn't bring myself to devote an entire POST to you, Chellie!)

Starting with my Nerd Herd pallies:
Chellie: Dude, this kid is amazing. He's a genious, but a bit insufferable. If he would only learn to stop talking every now and then, he would be perfect. This boy knows more about pretty much anything than anyone I know. Really, he could have his own show on the Discovery Channel, the Science Channel, the Military Channel, and the History Channel. That's how much this boy knows. If you're reading this, chances are you can attest to this. He's also one of the sweetest boys I know. He can be unbelievably nice, which is a good thing in a boy these days. He has some great jokes - all politically incorrect- but who cares about PC? I, for one, don't. Which is why I love this boy. Well, among the reasons.

Paul: Ok, if Marchel is a genius, Paul is God. I have never seen a kid who can write as well as this boy can. I'm jealous beyond belief, because I'm a writer, and I don't compare. It makes me sad inside. He's also a mathamatical whiz, and he likes it too. I know only 1 person with more flare for math, but we don't mention him because he's good at EVERYTHING and this is about Paul, not him. Anyway, Paul is amazingly funny, and just a sweetie.

Nick: Ok, geek doesn't even describe this boy. He's the most technologically inclined person since Bill Gates, I'm telling you. He's the sweetest, most polite boy in the world, but when you get to know him, he has an incredably sick mind. It's funny actually. I have heard the best jokes of my life from him. Thanks, Nick!

Alex: He is the most...unique of the group. It's a good thing, but he's an individual. He has more hobbies and obsessions than the rest of my friends combined. It's impressive! This kid can create programs to do ANYTHING on a graphing calculator, and he can solve a rubik's cube in no time flat. He's also a good runner, and builds models, and all sorts of cool stuff. He's amazing.

Eric: Wow, can you say eccentric? But this kid is pretty much amazing, and I love him a lot. He might be one of the moodiest boys I know, but he's still amazing. He's another one of my smart friends ( I have an abundance of them!) and he's a bit crazy. But we all love him. So yeah.

Caitlin: Only one word describes this girl, and it's amazing. She's an amazing athlete, and so nice, and really tolerant, which is saying something, hanging out with the group we do. She's always there for you, and she's just awesome. If you don't loe this girl, there's something wrong with you. No more to it.

Julia: My baby. I love her so so so much. Even if she does have her "I hate you" moments. But don't we all! And she's entitled. So yeah. She's amazing, she's been my best friend since first grade. Or was it second? I don't know, it was a long time ago. But she is amazing and I will always love her.

Rivie: A sweeeter girl has never been born. I love this girl so much! I only wish I had been her friend longer. She's so so amazing. Isn't it funny that the more you like a person, the less you have to say about them? I guess you love so much of them that nothing sticks out as much because you love them for their flaws. That would be Rivie. There is nothing about her that I don't love!

Paige: Amazing, she is the other half of my soul. Seriously, I think I can read her mind. REally, she's ony been my friend for a few years, but it feels like forever. I love her so so much and would die without her.

Goody: A bit of a nutcase, aren't we all. But very loveable, and we love her.

Ok, now I think I've summed up all my cool school-type friends. Now onto other people.

Tay: Hmmmm, supergenius, crazy good runner, nice as heck, funnier than that. I love this guy. He is my big brother, except he's not related to me. It's awesome, be jealous.

Nick: Ok, I have never met a nicer boy than Nick. He is really sweet and funny. He's just one of those guys that you couldn't imagine not being friends with. He's awesome!

Patrick: Amazing. He's a great writer- I'm SO jealous! - and nice. He's really funny, if not a bit socialy inept. He's another amazing athlete, and I would die without him. He has a funny-looking gotee, which is a bit tragic.

Will: One of those kids everyone loves. I love him too, and he gives amazing hugs! He's always there for you, and I love him a lot!

Olivia: My cousin. She's amazing! She's my Phantom obsession pally. We spend the best week of summer together. Summer isn't the same without her.

Ok, I have run out of friends to talk about, and now I have to go study for finals! Au revoir!

Why Swimming Rocks My World, etc.

You know summer is here when evening swim practice starts. There are only weeks left in school; really days. After a long day at school, studying until your brain is about to ooze out your ears, who doesn't want to spend an hour or so in the pool, swimming lap after lap? As miserable as it sounds, it really is fantastic. And I mean fantastic! I don't know why, but nothing makes me happier than spending an hour with a bunch of kids I hardly know, swimming and joking and listening to lousy music (shakira, anyone?). We get there, we sit down, we play the name game. We laugh and joke about favorite movies, and jokingly chastise those without favorite candies. Mind you, these are all kids from different schools. But somehow, swim practice brings us all together. After stretching, or not, we're technically supposed to get in the water.

"All right! You have 60 seconds to get in the water!" the coaches shout at us. The give us count-downs as we peel off shorts and shove on swim caps and goggles. Some of the swimmers are in the water and swimming within the minute, but odds are there are a few stragglers, sometimes more. On a good day, no one really cares. Other days, the slow ones actually get thrown in the pool, curtesy of our 6-foot-some-odd head coach. On a bad day, we have to swim extra butterfly, but this is a happy blog, so we won't mention those days! ; )

Anyway, swimming and listening to "Hips Don't Lie" is really a great experience. The monotony of a 10-minute timed swim is a great time to catch up on anything on your mind, and if there's nothing, you can listen to the music in your head or run over the facts you need for finals. Or you can just count strokes and get lost in the rythem. It's calming, really. Like meditation. It rocks.

Basically, swimming is the best thing that ever happened to me. I get a killer work-out, and I have tons of fun doing it! So if you are cool like me, you should swim.

Other things on my mind today- editing. It's really hard. I will never take for granted the job of editor. In fact, assuming I ever get close to getting published, I will be a slave to my editor. I just finished editing my friend's 104-ish page story, and I'm about insane because of it. And all I did was grammar, spelling, punctuation, the like. I didn't really work content and all that. It's harder than it sounds, believe you me!

Ok, signing out! Goodbye, all my loyal readers. The whole 1 of you, if even that many........

Why We Love our Mothers and Other Thoughts of Today

In honor of today being Mothers' Day, I figured I'd do a post on Moms and all the wonderfulness of them. No matter how much they drive you crazy and make you mad, you always love them. Even if you don't admit it.......
Anyway, who else but a mother would force you to go to a little brother's lacrosse game when you had planned on going to the mall with your friends, and then end up inadvertantly hooking you up with the hottie you're totally crushing on? (true story, by the way.....ask me about it some time) Who but your mom will all but call you fat and then buy you clothes that make you feel hott? Who other than your mom won't cry while you're walking across the grass at May Day, but then cry when everyone is singing "Immaculate Mary"? Yeah, that's right, a mother is the only one who will do all this and more. So even if you're pissed at her, go give her a hug. Because she really does love you, no matter what it seems like.

Hey, would some one please explain to me why lime green and bright orange have such an appeal to me? I honestly think I may be insane. I mean, honestly! Bright orange? I know so many people who hate orange. Is there something wrong with me? Well, besides the obvious insanity, obviously! Lime green is a bit more understandable, I actually know people who like it. But for the most part, I think I have the oddest taste in colors ever.

Hey hey, the world is happening! Seriously! Ok, get this! My school play ("The Lion King" baby!) is in about 2 weeks, the Bolder Boulder is just after that, field day is this week, finals are in a few weeks, and we have about 15 days of school left. Can you believe that? Time sure flys when you're having fun. Or being insanely stressed, whatever works for you.

God, I write the most random stuff. I'll be surprised if the majority of you are actually still reading this. I really do have the most random thoughts in my head. I think if you did a CAT scan, it would look like a mix between an old attic and an ISpy page. Really, I could get lost in here, and it's MY head! I think I'm gonna stop writing now, so I don't scare anyone.

Homework, What Pisses Me Off, Boys, Music, and Other Things Entirely Relevant to my Overly-boring Life

Ok, here's my first blog entry. Sadly, I'm in a bad mood currently, so this is going to be more of a rant. So feel free to not read it. I hate French homework. I'd just like you all to know that. In reality, French isn't that bad. I mean, yeah, conjugating irregular reflexive verbs with object pronouns ad naseum (or however thats spelled! I think there's another "U" in there somewhere.) gets old, but on the whole, it's not dreadful. Except with Ms. Trattner, the sub who ruins everything. She finds it fitting to give us this stupid, huge-ass (pardon my french) report with no idea of the due date, and now she feels that she can tell us THURSDAY that we're presenting the following TUESDAY! Come on, now, people, that is just.....unjust! So I'm not feeling very gracious towards homework.

Another thing that bothers me-when your computer freaks out! I'm trying to open Word to do my French project, and it won't open. Isn't that swell?!?!?! Its bugging me. So instead of working on my report, I'm griping to the nonexistant people reading this. Ain't that peachy?

Now, I know as soon as you see my next rant topic, you're going to roll your eyes and think now she's pulling the teenager routine. This is SO old! But yes, the next topic.....drum roll, please!......PARENTS! Now I know it's Mothers' Day tomorrow, so I'm supposed to be feeling all loving towards my mom and all, but let's just say due to certain events, that feeling isn't exactly rampant for the time being. So last weekend, my friend and I made plans to get together this weekend at a certain time. I told my mother about my plans. Now, come Saturday, my mother decides that I should come to my brother's lacrosse game. I've come to his games before, and there's nothing special about this one. Heck, I come to more games that any of the other siblings on that team! But guess what time the game is? The same time I was planning on meeting my friends! So now I can't do anything until way later. Ok, rant over, because I'm starting to piss myself off even more.

You know what drives me crazy? When characters in books do stupid things, and you feel so hopeless and agrivated and just agrh! because you can't get them to not do the stuid thing. Like break up with the amazing, unorganized, clumsy band boy. I HATE that. It drives me crazy.

Happier Topics!
Music: Ok, this right here is my life. I cannot live without music. My alarm is music. I get dressed an ready for school to music. Usually I drive to school with music. I sing all day long, and have music running through my head. I run with music (when my iPod isn't being stupid). I drive home with music. I do homework with music. I read with music. I go to bed with music. My day=music. Yes. My current favorite band-Three Days Grace. They really are amazing. The music is great, and for the most part, so are the lyrics. Although on occasion, you think that there's no way that they weren't stoned or something when they wrote a song. But that happens to everyone, even the Beatles. If you think the Beatles are lame, you aren't my friend. Because they were. Rise Against it amazing; my first real, unaccompanied concert. My other concerts were with my dad: Bruce Springsteen (don't diss, he really is amazing!) and Paul McCartney (yeah, he's old. So what?) Yeah. I like oldies for the most part, but nothing too sappy. Alternative rocks my world, and metal is cool. Screamy head-banging music is the best. It's brilliant really. But that's for another post.

Boys: Ok, why is it that I can go to Elitch's on a Friday night and see about 2 guys who are better-looking that the pack of 6th grade boys I'm hanging out with? How sad is that?! And why are 6th grade boys so weird? I see them every day at school, and they say nothing to me, and then as soon as we're somewhere else, I'm suddenly their best friend? Seriously! I was pretending to be dating one of them, and then in the car, the other one who wasn't my brother was practically asleep on me. For the sake of said boys, I won't disclose the identities of the boys, although half of you people probably know who they are. Ok, now, a question for the masses. If your friend breaks up with a boy, how long until she should get over him? And then, how long until you're allowed to start likeing him? Or at least not hating him? Because I think 6 months is a little extreme for that. A year is ridiculous. Especially when another girl has gone out with him. Is it just me, or are red-heads really hot? Because I think I have never seen a red-head who wasn't at least cute. But that might just be me.

Ok, I think I've succeeded in driving you all to your wit's ends. So I'm done for today. Not to mention I need to go cry to daddy to get him to fix the stupid bloody computer so I can do my report. Argh! Bye.
