Writing, Reading, and Rocking Out

Greetings, earthlings! That doesn't work very well, seeing as I'm an earthling too, but just go with it.

So, on to the first topic of the day: WRITING!!!!! I don't know how many of you are writers. I know Paul and Packy are, and Julia dabbles in it, but I have no idea if anyone else who reads this (or doesn't, in Packy's case) engages in the fine art of word-craft. If you don't, you should. Nothing feels quite as amazing as that feeling you get when you have a burning idea for a story, and that rush as you put it all down on paper. Or in Word, whichever works for you. Right now, I've got that going on. I got this idea for a story and I've been burning graphite all day. That's what I love about summer writing. You have all the time in the world to put your thoughts on paper.
Essentially, the main outline of the story is this. There are two universes that are pretty much parallel, but they aren't parallel in the sence that most people think. It's not the whole 'how the universe would have turned out if you hade made different choices' type thing. It's the same characters in a completely different setting. Think Orlando Bloom in "Pirates" and "LOTR". Same character, different settings. Nah, that's not it. Think....hmmm. I can't think of a good example. There's the girl in one world, and she's a normal teenager like us in our time period. And then in the other universe, she's the same girl, same name, same looks, same personality, but this time it's sort of midevil or something. Different universes, same characters. It's sort of like a play, where it's always the same characters, but the setting and plot change in different performances. If that makes any sense. So these two world are linked in a way where anything you do in one universe will affect the other one. So if you kill someone in one world, it does't necessarily mean that person will die in the other world, but you might become a criminal in the second world or something. Still working on that bit. But yeah, that's the basic lay-out. If you want to actually figure out what the devil I'm talking about, you'll have to get me to send it to you, which I will do.

Reading is my favorite passtime currently. Seeing as I'm stuck at home with pretty much nothing to do, reading is what I'm left with. I mean, you can only stare at a computer screen for so long. I just finished Masquerade which is the second book in the Blue Bloods series. It's cool - modern-day vampires. Waaaaaaay fun, and it's got love and adventure and social outcasts and cute boys and blood-sucking. Everything you need for a good book. And it's not Count Dracula type vampires either. So you should read them. They're by Melissa de la Cruz. I think that's her name. Somebody de la Cruz. And then I also just finished another Sarah Dessin book. (Someone Like You, The Truth About Forever, This Lullaby) This one was Keeping the Moon. It was good. And it had more love, and more cute boys, and lots of other stuff. Total chick book. I like it a lot. Oh and the Harry Potter books. Re-reading all of those too. Have to be ready for the new one. July 21!!!!!1 It can't come soon enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rocking out. Is it just me, or is music addictive? Because I definately can't get along without it! Seriously, I try to sleep without it and it's too quiet, same with reading. And I need something whenever I'm on the computer. I live with music. Does anyone else do that, or is it just me? Yeah, but music is my summer. I don't think I've spent more than an hour without music all summer (ha ha, 5 days of it) unless I was sleeping. It rocks my world.

Ok, off to work I go. It could be a loooooooooong day in the snack bar, seeing as it's gray, over-cast and rainy. Who goes swimming in this weather?
