Hey hey!
So essentially, last night I saw the new HP movie, Order of the Phoenix (Ootp). Being a totally Harry Potter freak, I was SUPER spyched for the movie. I didn't love the other 4, but hey, they were pretty good. The cast was great, they stuck to the books for the most part, and some of the little add-ins were abso-bloody-lutely hilarious! So that was what I was expecting in Ootp. Sadly, I didn't get that. The cast was decent, although I didn't much like Mrs. Figg, but Luna Lovegood was perfect for the role. That girl is my hero. The worst part by far was how much the movie and the book differentiated. I really really liked the 5th book in the HP saga, but I have to say the movie pretty well butchered it. From the very beginning, you knew something was wrong. There were no cryptic notes from Ron and Hermione, there was no lurking under the windows in hopes of hearing about He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's return. More importantly, there was no Mundungus Fletcher, a rather crucial character, if you remember. The dementors were poorly portrayed in the film, and Dudly was an absolute moron! He's always been a bit thick, but he was beyond that in this one.
I was really disappointed with the Grimauld Place scenes, especially as they're my favorite parts of the book. The scenes there were surprisingly brief, and many things, including the boggart, Sirius's mum's portrait, and the talking photo frame in Harry's room. The conflict between Percy (the world's biggest prat!) and the rest of the Weasleys didn't occur, although you did see him working with the Minister. I really wouldn't care if that twit dropped off the face of the earth. But anyway.
Ron hardly seemed to have a role in this film. Most of the time was spent in Harry's nightmares and Daily Prophet headlines. Honestly, Ron had about 3 spoken lines. Seamus didn't show up much in the movie, which was unfortunate due to his huge row with Harry. Hermione, Ron, and Malfoy's prefect-ness wasn't in the movie, nor was Cho's friend Marietta, who untimately ratted out the D.A. Hogsmede had no part in the film either, though I can't say I'm too depressed for not seeing Harry and Cho in Madam Puddifoot's shop. I really don't much like that girl. Ginny's relationships with Micheal Corner and Dean didn't really happen, but oh well. I'm not too upset. Quidditch didn't even happen in the book, which was rather sad, as I wanted to see Ron fly, and I really wanted to see Harry and Fred beat the heck out of Malfoy. (It was Fred, right? I can't remember...)
Over all, I'd say they spent too much time on Harry's stupid nightmares, and not enough time on the rest of the story. Especially the D.A. And Sirius. I have to say I didn't have much emotional attatchment to my favorite character, and that's saying something, seeing as I came in madly in love with Sirius.
Ok, I'm done whining about the movie. I was just really excited for this, and I was let down. Oh well.
On a lighter, WAAAAAAAY more exciting note, only 8 days til Deathly Hallows! I can't wait!
Here are my theories on the book. I don't think Harry is going to die, but somehow I don't see Voldy dying either. I think somehow they screw the prophesy, but all the Horcruxes are destroyed so Voldemort is mortal and decided to give up his quest for world domintation or something like that. Hagrid and maybe Neville are going to die. Hermione is going to kick some serious butt, and Fred and George are going to join the Order. Tonks and Lupin will get married! Snape isn't really evil, and the Malfoys get killed.
Here's my theory on Snape. He's still a double agent, still on the good side. An arguement between Dumbledore and Snape was overheard, and Snape was saying he was tired of doing something, but Dumbledore said he had to. (Hmm, support Malfoy? Be a double agent?) Another thing - He was under an Unbreakable Vow that he would carry out Voldemort's orders if dear old Draco failed, and honestly, who was expecting him to succeed? So really he had no choice. Kill Dumbledore and keep his ploy as a Death Eater, or break the Unbreakable Vow and die a very painful death and hereby stop all inside info about Voldemort from getting to the Order? Both choises suck, but seeing as Harry has all the necessary knowlege to destroy the Horcruxes, it's ok for Dumbledore to die. That's my take.
Ok, I'm obsessed. Nothing else to say there.
Oh, by the way, for those of you who care (AKA Olivia), only 25 days untill Spofford! I can't wait!!!!!!
